Answer #1

e. The endometrial layer degrades and is shed.

The luteal or secretory phase of the uterine cycle , in this progesterone stimulates the formation of the corpus luteum and endometrium and at the end of it corpus luteum regresses and progesterone level decreases causing the sloughing off the enometrial lining. In the follicular or proliferative phase , the ovarin follicles secretes the higher amount of estrogen. If implanation occurs, the enometrial lining thickens under the influence of progesterone, and release nutrient into lumen of the uterus for embryo development. The uterine smooth muscles called myometrium contracts during labor and help in dilating cervix leads to child birth.
