1. Thymus is lymphoid organ having two lobes ,which are further divided into multiplelobes.Each lobe consist of two regions Cortex and medulla.

• Cortex is the Outer region of lobe having dense and cellular, thus stained darker in slide.It has squamous reticular epithelial cells which form Blood thymus barrier
• Medulla is the inner region of lobe having less dense and less cellular so lightly stained.It contains concentric epithelial cells which are keratinised known as Hassal's corpuscles

Hormones secretes by thymus are thymosin, thymulin and thymopoietin which are produced from reticular epithelial cells of cortex region.
