Descending of the testes iinto the scrotal sac is very essential for fertility of an individual.
Development of spermatozoa requires a temperature lower than the body temperature ( 2° to 3° lower). Therefore the scrotal sac is present outside the abdominal cavity so that a lower temperature is maintained in the testes which are present in the scrotal sacs.
Therefore the testes must be descended surgically in patients with cryptorchidism so that sperms may develop normally and the fertility is maintained.
