In menopause there is decline in hormone called Estrogen.
Estrogen deficiency in the body causes significant bone density
loss and along with compromises bone architecture
Estrogen deficiency in the body result in increased
proliferation, differentiation, and also activation of new
osteoclasts. This associated with prolongs survival of mature
osteoclasts.
Osteoclast are mostly associated with bone breakdown.
Trabecular bone is most susceptible for this effect .
This leading to an increased risk of vertebral and wrist
fractures.
