what filtration pressure does lupus nephritis change and why?
Does this filtration pressure change GFR too?
Lupus nephritis results in loss of protein into the filtrate through the glomerular membrane. As the proteins are lost from the blood, glomerular colloidal osmotic pressure decreases. This favors the net filtration leading to increase in GFR.
Net filteration pressure= glomerular hydrostatic pressure - glomerular colloid osmotic pressure - capsular hydrostatic pressure + capsular colloid osmotic pressure.
Pressure favoring filtration are:
-glomerular hydrostatic pressure
-capsular colloid osmotic pressure
Pressure opposing filtration are:
- glomerular colloid osmotic pressure
- capsular hydrostatic pressure
