  • The cervical plexus arise from C1 to C4 cervical segment in the neck deep to the sternocleidomastoid muscle. It has two types of muscles: cutaneous and muscular branches:

Cutaneous branches:

  • They include lesser occipital nerve (C2), greater auricular nerve (C2 & C3), transverse cervical nerve (C2 & C3) and supraclavicular nerve (C3 & C4).

Muscular branches:

  • They include Ansa cervicalis (C1-C3), phrenic (C3-C5) and segmental branches (C1-C4).
