Humoral: Humoral release of hormone occurs in response to changes in extracellular fluid. For example insulin releases when blood glucose level increases. Insulin enhances the uptake of glucose from blood into the cells resulting into decreased blood glucose level.

Hormonal: Hormonal release of hormones occurs in response to release of other endocrine hormones. For example thyroid stimulating hormone releases from pituitary gland which stimulate thyroid gland to release thyroid hormone T3 and T4 which affect metabolism.

Neural: sometimes nervous system directly stimulate hormone release. For example stimulation of sympathetic nervous system in stressed condition activate adrenal gland to release adrenaline which increases blood pressure to face the condition.
