Answer C Corpus Luteum
At about the 14th day of the cycle, the distended follicle ruptures, and the ovum is extruded into the abdominal cavity (ovulation). Ruptured follicle fills with blood (corpus hemorrhagicum), which later on converted into yellowish, lipid rich corpus luteum .
This initiates the luteal phase of menstrual cycle .Corpus luteum secretes estrogen and progesterone .Progesterone is pregnancy hormone .If the Ovum is fertilised by sperm then corpus Luteum is maintained throughout pregnancy otherwise it get destroyed and converted into Corpus Albicans ( white structure)
