one of the hypersensitivities (class I, II, III, IV) can involve opsonization with a component of the complement system, which includes the active components c3a, c3b, c5a, and c5b. Describe which hypersensitivity can involve complement components, and the role of each of the complement components in the immune system.

Answer #1

ANSWER: Type 2 and type 3 hypersensitivity reactions use complement system components, where antigen antibody complexes are fixed to cells results in classical complement pathway. C1q is responsible for binding to an antigen, antibody complex. C1r, C1s, C2b, Bb,D are responsible for activating enzymes. C4b, C3b are responsible for membrane binding proteins amd opsonins. C5a,C3a, C4a are responsible for peptide mediators of inflammation. C5b, C6, C7, C8,C9 are responsible for the formation of membrane attack complex.
