Orbicularis oris are the muscles found around the lips.It consists of different layers of muscle fibres.A lot of fibres are derived from buccinator and it is used to make movements of the lips

Inferior longitudinal muscle

Proximally attached to the root of the tongue and attach distally to the tongue apex

They shorten and retract the tongue when its its protruding

Superior longitudinal muscle

Muscle fibres attach proximally to the fibrous median septum and submucous fibrous layer and attach distally to the tongue margins

Their action is the same as inferior longitudinal muscle.

Canine muscle

Not found in homo sapiens but in dogs.
