What are the proteolytic enzymes produced & secreted by the pancreas?
1) The proteolytic enzymes produced and secreted by the pancreas are chymotrypsin , trypsin , carboxypeptidases . These proteolytic enzymes are helpful in digestion of proteins
2) since they are produced in active form such as trypsinogen , chymotrypsinogen . These trypsinogen released into the lumen of small intestine and enterokinase acts on inactive trypsinogen and converts into the active trypsin
3) These enzymes doesn't digest pancreas because they are produced in inactive state like trypsinogen and chymotrypsinogen
4) Trypsin-inhibitor are secreted by the acinar cells of the pancreas which inhibit the activation of the trypsinogen and chymotrypsinogen in the pancreas and prevents digestion of pancreas
5) Due to failure of trypsin-inhibitor , same amount of trypsin is activated in the pancreas and damage the acinar cells of the pancreas and it causes pancreatitis
