explain the relationship between cholesterol in the skin ans vitamin D

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Ans:-

Relationship between cholesterol in the skin and vitamin D is as follows:-

- Vitamin D is linked with cholesterol because cholesterol in the skin is necessary to make vitamin D from the sunlight.

- Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin.

- During the formation of Cholesterol ,it forms 7- dehydrocholesterol as an intermediate and on exposure of sunlight this 7- dehydrocholesterol is converted to cholecalciferol (vit.D) in the skin.

- Then this cholecalciferol is converted to calcidiol in the liver.

- And then this calcidiol is converted to calcitriol by the kidneys ,and this calcitriol is the biologically active form of the vitamin D.

So , basically cholesterol in the skin is very necessary for the production of vitamin D by the sunlight.

ardiologists are interested in examining the relationship between heart disease and cholesterol. In a random sample of 1500 patients in a large hospital, 515 have heart disease, 424 have high cholesterol and 312 have both heart disease and high cholesterol. (Use a Venn Diagram to model this situation.) What is the probability that the patient has heart disease, given that the patient has high cholesterol? Use the Venn diagram that you created in What is the probability that the patient...

Vitamin D is essential for strong, healthy bones. Our bodies produce vitamin D naturally when the skin is exposed to sunlight, or it can be taken as a dietary supplement. Although the bone disease rickets was largely eliminated in English during the 1950s, some people there are concerned that this generation of children is at increased risk because they are more likely to watch television or play computer games than spend time outdoors. Recent research indicated that about 20% of...

Please summarize this passage 2. A Link between Vitamin D and Frailty? The term “frailty” is becoming more and more popular in geriatric medicine. However, its definition is vague. The Oxford dictionary defined it by “the condition of being weak and delicate.” A more precise definition is given by Fried who defined frailty as “a biologic syndrome of decrease reserve and resistance to stressors that results from cumulative declines across multiple physiologic systems and causes vulnerability to adverse outcomes [68].”...

A.  Explain the impaired activation of vitamin D and its consequences on calcium and phosphate homeostasis, parathyroid function, and mineralization of the bone in people with CKD. B.  Explain the possible complications of the administration of activated forms of vitamin D on parathyroid function and calcium and phosphate homeostasis (e.g., calcium × phosphate product).
