What impact do you think stretching might have on certain muscular system pathologies? Why? Are there any pathologies you think stretching would have no impact on? If so, which ones?
Stretching is a form of physical exercise in which the muscle or tendon group is elongated or stretched in order to improve the flexibility of it. It improves the muscle tone. In certain musculoskeletal system pathologies, muscle will be tight in response to immobilization of that body part, like in post fracture cases,or muscle loses its flexibility due to poor postures etc. Non specific back pain is an example of such case where stretching can give good results. Stretching muscles help to improve the circulation of the areas, remove the wastes from that area, improve the range of motion of joints etc.
There are few pathologies which stretching can’t help much. For example, in bone tumours, stretching will cause haematostatic spread. In osteogenesis imperfecta, stretching is not useful.
