According to Boyle's law, the pressure exerted by a constant number of gas molecules in a container is inversely proportional to the volume of the container. Therefore, increasing the volume of the container will cause a decrease in its pressure.

True or False?

Answer #1

True.

Inversely propotional means when one increases the other decreases,in Boyles it refers to fact that if the volume of a container increases than the pressure decreases and vice-versa.

If there is increase in volume of the container, than the molecules will have more space to move around, as a result molecules will strike the wall of the container less often and therefore pressure decreases,on the other hand if the volume of the container decreases than the molecules of the gas will have less space to move around as a result they strike the wall of the container more often, thereby increasing the pressure

Decide which of the following statements are true and which are false, concerning the kinetic molecular theory. True False  The particles are so small compared with the distances between them that the volume of the individual particles can be assumed to be zero. True False  The molecules in a real gas have finite volumes and do exert forces on each other, thus real gases do not conform to some of the assumptions of an ideal gas as stated by the kinetic molecular...
