Which of the following would likely occur if tubular resorption was impaired during the urine formation process? (Choose all that apply!)

Group of answer choices

A. the volume of urine would increase

B. the volume of urine would decrease

C. the individual would become dehydrated

D. the individual would retain additional water in their blood plasma

E. the nephron would not be able to actively secrete unwanted substances from the blood into the urine

Answer #1

Answer

Selective reabsoption is an important step in the process of urine formation.

In this process some solutes such as nutrients, electrolytes and water is selective reabsorbed from filtrate into the blood.

If  tubular resorption gets impaired,

  • There will be no sufficient water reabsorption.
  • More water will be excrted in the urine, increasing the urine volume.
  • This may lead to fluid volume defecit in the body (dehydration).

Option A and C

  • The volume of urine would increase
  • The individual would become dehydrated
