The palatine surface of tongue makes up papillae of the tongue and is located in the dorsal surface.

Tongue is a muscular organ which plays an inportant role in mastication and taste sensation.
Upper surface of the tongue is called palatine surface as it faces the palate.

Upper surface consists of masticatory mucosa. It is a type of oral mucosa made up of keratinized stratified squamous epithelium.

There are numerous papillae which are embedded in this cells which contain taste buds and taste receptors. Papillae are of many types. fungiform, filiform and circumvallate papillae are there.

All of these are located on the dorsal surface of tongue.
