Endogenous opioids are neuropeptids categorized as precursor for endorphins and enkephalins,and its site of secretion is brain(within the pituitary gland), from there it spread throughout the body. It acts upon neuro-immunomodulators and is involved in neural related functions.

Precursor of endogenous opioid helps in attenuation of cell replication and block the the interaction with the antagoinsts naltrexone causes reduction in the neuronal disorders arised in multiple sclerois.The endogenous receptors are present in central and peripheral nervous system and function in pain modulation, reponse to stress and autonomic control.It also paly role in neuroprorection and ease the symptoms of parkinson diseases and seizures.
