Enzymes are made up of amino acids , they are proteins. The chain of aminoacids fold to unique shape to form enzymes.

Enzymes speed up a chemical reaction. They bind to molecules and alter tgem in specific ways . It reduces the activation energy for a reaction and thus speed up the reactuon at a much higher rate.

With in the cell the molecules which are substrate for a chemical reaction bind to specific site of enzymes called active sites and carry out the reaction.
