Answer #1

ANSWER: The limiting aminoacid is the essential amino acid found in smallest quantity in food stuffs mostly in plant based foods. This concept is important when calculating animal feeds. This limiting aminoacid concept is a concern over vegetarian diet because lysine is the limiting amino acid in this diet. LYSINE in plant based food is very less and is the amino acid of shortest supply. Health professionals must encourage the vegans to include a wide variety of protein rich food each day to ensure the adequate intake of proteins so that by combining proteins the deficit of aminoacids can be overcome. Examples for protein rich vegetables are legumes like soyabeans, lentils, baked beans, whole grains like brown rice, buckwheat, nuts and seeds and dairy products.

Purpose To understand and apply the concept of the vegetarian diet by selecting and consuming an all plant based healthy meal. Following a strict "vegan" diet can be challenging. The benefits of a plant based diet include the reduction in numerous diseases, including obesity, heart disease and diabetes. Just how easy a strict vegetarian diet is to follow is another story. This activity requires you to eat a strict vegetarian diet for one meal and evaluate it from both a...

Biochemists who study protein structure and function often introduce mutations (changes) to a protein's amino acid sequence. One common change is an amino acid substitution that can creates a modified protein that can mimic (function similar to) a phosphorylated protein. Using what you know about different amino acids, which amino acid(s) would be a good choice for this change to a phosphorylated-like state? Briefly explain why.
