Answer. Radiotherapy is counted as one of the effective therapies for cancer, in which cancerous cells are killed by radiation. This therapy around the carotid sinus or aortic arch may damage these receptors. As a result, they cannot detect deviations in blood pressure.

Surgery around the carotid sinus and the aortic arch (location where baroreceptors are located) may also weaken or damage the baroreceptors. Especially the neck region is the susceptible site.
