The skeletal muscle is that enables individuals to move, protects and supports the skeleton and regulates the whole body's glucose homeostasis. The skeletal muscles helps in maintaining posture and position of the human body. They also associated in the process of respiration as it helps in the inhalation and exhalation of the gases which acts as accessory muscles. The respiratory pumps are those abdominal and thoracic structures that contribute to the expansion and contraction of the lungs are called as respiratory pumps. They form a complex arrangement in the form of semirigid bellows around the lungs. All muscles that are attached to the human rib cage have the inherent potential to cause a breathing action. During inspiration, decreases in intrathoracic pressure draw air into the trachea, bronchi, and lungs and draw blood into the vena cava and right atrium of the heart.
