Discuss the endocrine regulation of one sex hormone: from the tropic hormone to the final sex hormone
Sex hormones include female sex hormones (progesterone, estrogen) and male sex hormone (testosterone).
Endocrine regulation of estrogen:
Estrogen is released by the follicles of ovaries and corpus luteum. Release of estrogen is under the regulation of pituitary gland. Decreased level of estrogen is stimulate hypothalamas to release gonadotropin releasing hormone which stimulate pituitary gland to release gonadotropin. Gonaotropin includes follicles stimulating hormone (FSH) and leutinizing hormone (LH). FSH acts on ovarian follicles to release estrogen. FSH and LH stimulate the remainings of the mature follicle after ovulation to convert into corpus luteum. The corpus luteum grows and release progesterone and some amount of estrogen.
