1) The muscles that are helpful in absorbing the shock of toes help in plantar flexion and these muscles include the following,

  • Gastrocnemius
  • Soleus
  • Tibialis posterior
  • Flexor hallucis longus
  • Flexor digitorum longus

All the above mentioned muscles are agonist and the antagonist muscle includes tibialis anterior.

2) inversion is tilting of the foot towards the midline and it is performed by tibialis anterior and tibialis posterior. Similarly eversion is moving the foot away from the midline and is caused by the muscles fibularis longus and brevis.
