The heart chamber that pumps oxygenated blood to the systemic circuit is the

Group of answer choices

a. right ventricle.

b. left ventricle.

c. left atrium.

d. right atrium.

e. more than one of these is correct

I am confused on this one. I know that the left side of the heart (left atrium and ventricle) pumps oxygenated blood throughout the body but not sure if its both or if its just the left ventricle. Any help would be great!!!

Answer #1

Answer

Option B) Left ventricle

  • Heart contains 4 chambers : Two atria and two ventricles
  • Atria are receiving chambers while ventricles are pumping chambers.
  • Right side of the heart contains deoxygenated blood.
  • In left side, left atrium receives oxygenated blood from pulmonary veins. The blood flows into left ventricle via bicuspid valve.
  • Left ventricle pumps oxygenated blood to the aorta and all the body parts via aortic semilunar valve.

Hence, only left ventricle is a heart chamber that pumps oxygenated blood to the systemic circuit.
