In order to answer the following questions you need by maximum 500 words
1. What properties of ATP make it especially effective in driving forward biochemical reactions.
ATP is composed of Adenine ring, one ribose sugar and three Phosphate group attached to it.
The three Phosphate group are attached to ribose by apha, brta and gamma linkage.
ATP is stable at pH 6.8 to 7.4, beyond this it hydrolyses.
ATP hydrolyse easily to ADP or AMP by releasing energy and phophate or pyerophosphate.
ATP + H2O --> ADP + iP ......,∆G = -7.3 kCal/mol
ATP + H2O --> AMP + iPP......,∆G = - 10.9 kCal/mol
This spontaneously released energy is utilised the biochemical reactions.
This energy and phophate is used to drive any reaction.Hence ATP is good & effective in driving forward biochemical reactions.
