What is a motor homunculus? a sensory homunculus?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Homunculus is visual topographical representation of anatomical divisions of primary somatosensory cortex and for primary motor cortex. It creates a perception which shows how neurons are distributed in brain and how our body parts are perceived in the brain.

The representation of body parts along the precentral gyrus of the frontal lobe is called Motor homunculus.

The representation of the body parts along the postcentral gyrus of the parietal lobe is called Sensory homunculus.
