1. Evaporative water loss (EWL) is a combination of cutaneous water loss (CWL) and respiratory water loss (RWL). What are ways that animals reduce amounts of evaporative water loss? Why does evaporative water loss vary among animals in a manner consistent with metabolic scaling?

1. Way the Animals reduce Evaporative water loss is: Reduced surface area to volume ratio like by means of a rounded body and shorter limbs. Example: Water holding frog that lives in Australia.

2. Evaporative water loss varies with animals in respect to metabolic scaling because a higher metabolic rate ( like in humming birds) leads to having a higher cutaneous water loss. Concurrently, having a great surface area, gives way for a higher cutaneous water loss as well.
