Which of the following statements accurately defines Purkinje fibers?

Superficial, strap-like muscle on the posterior of the heart

Specialized muscle fibers in the ventricular walls that conduct electrical impulses

Located in the lower right atrium

Both A and C are correct

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answer - specialised muscle fibres in the ventricular walls that conduct electrical impulses.

It is a component of conduction pathway of heart, which includes SA node, AV node, bundle of his and purkinje fibres.

These fibres are located in the inner (not superficial) ventricular walls. Purkinje fibres conduct the electrical impulses whose source is AV node to the muscles of ventricles. As the the electrical signal reaches to the ventricular musculature, it contracts.

Which is the following is an example of compartmentation at the intracellular level? Group of answer choices Skeletal muscle cells have organelles called sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) that contain large stores of calcium ions. The calcium is released during muscle contraction and then pumped back into the SR as the muscle relaxes. The heart is divided into four chambers, with two upper chambers that receive incoming blood and two lower, more muscular chambers that send blood out into the circulation. Regions...
