The erection process is tightly regulated by the peripepheral nerves operating and the blood capillaries supply and the biochemical processes occuring within corpora of the peniss.The erection process get stimulated with the tactile,visual and olfactory stimuli.The parasympathetic nervous system helps in the erection process which is derived from control of the sacral spine region S1-S4 .

In erectile dysfunction, the contraction of the cavernosal smooth muscles gets impacted which is innervated by the central and peripheral nervous system uses transmitter systems. The nerve and vessels presnt in the penile muscular wall produces and releases the modulators and transmitters which controls the contraction of corporal smooth muscles.
