i. Liver maintains the normal glucose concentration level and thereby control the carbohydrate metabolism. Liver converts the excess carbohydrates and proteins into fatty acids and triglycerides.
ii. Liver is the site for transport of protein synthesis and is also responsible for the hormone dependent growth factors.

iii. Liver secretes the brown-yellow pigment bilirubin. Liver takes the bilirubin from blood and process it, so that it can easily excrete in the form of bile.
iv. Synthesis of bile salts helps in excretion of cholesterol. Liver is the primary organ responsible for the biosynthesis of bile salts.
v. Vitamin D is recieved in inactive form from skin and diet. It's conversion from inactive to active form is done in liver with the help of an enzyme.
