Steroid hormones:

A. activate transcription of genes

B. activate cyclic-AMP

C. open or close ion channels

D. act on the Brain

E. act on the Reproductive organs

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Ans:- A.) activate transcription of genes.

concept:- all steroid hormones are lipid soluble so they can cross the cell membrane and goes inside the cell.

steroid hormone receptors are present inside the cell where they form hormone receptors complex . This hormone receptors complex goes inside the nucleus and inititate the transcription of of genes to increases the production of required proteins.

Not all steroid hormones act on reproductive system . Eg :- aldosterone act on kidney

cAMP is activated by glucagon , vasopressin 2 , epinephrine , norepinephrine.

Opening and closing ion channel hormones have receptor on cell membrane.
