Hypothyroidism is the decrease thyroid hormone level i.e decreased thyroxine.

Thyroxine is secreted by the thyroid gland. In primary hypothyroidism, directly thyroid gland is damaged resulting in low level of thyroxine. This low level of thyroxine stimulate the hypothalamus and anterior pituitary to release TRH and TSH resulting in increase level of thyrotropin.
