Is reverse osmosis a natural process in the body? If not where/how and why is it used.
NO, reverse osmosis does not occur naturally in our body.
This process is used in water filtration system. The RO water purifiers uses reverse osmosis technique.
In this process, dirty water is collected in a container which is separated from another container by permiable membrane. Now high pressure is applied at this dirty water container. Due to pressure, the water passes from the dirty container into the fresh container, leaving the suspended solutes in dirty container.
In this way water is filtered. This process is called reverse osmosis because here under the influence of pressure, water moves from form it's lower concentration to higher concentration, which is opposite to normal osmosis.
