There are four developmental stages :

1. Zygotic stage : when male and female gamete diffuse to form a zygote is called as zygotic stage.
2. Blastocyst stage : When zygote divides and cells forms a solid ball which further divides to form a hollow ball known as blastocyst , which is attached to the uterine wall.
3. Embryonic stage : when internal organs (heart, brain , spinal cord) starts developing, external features starts emerging , it then forms an embryo.
4. Fetal stage : When embryo further grows and develops it is then called as fetus. This stage is caled as fetal stage.
