Why are the 2 processes, meiosis and fertilization necessary for the correct number of chromosomes in zygote formation?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Meiosis is important because , by this process the number of chromosomes in the gametes are reduced to half through which they maintain constant chromosome number through the generations and also useful because it produces recombination where genetic variations occurs

Fertilization is also very important because , the gametes which are haploid in number fuse together and forms diploid zygote which helps in maintaining the correct number of chromosomes in the zygote
