Water reabsorption is under the control of vasopressin _______.

Select one:

a. Only in the glomerulus

b. Only in the loop of Henle

c. Only in the proximal tubule

d. Only in the distal tubule and collecting duct

e. Along the entire length of the nephron

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answer : D. Only in the distal tubule and collecting duct.

Explanation :- Vasopressin is an Antidiuretic Hormone Synthesise by the hypothalamus and stored in Posterior Pituitary Hormone mainly responsible for reabsoption of sodium salt and water from the distal convoluted tubule and collecting duct.

Mechanism of action :- Vasopressin act via G protein couple receptor which activate adenylcyclase pathway result in Increases cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) which increases water permeability at the renal tubule and increses blood plasma volume by the process of reabsoption.
Uses of Vasopressin : In Diabetes Insipidus.
In Vasodilatory shock: To increase blood pressure in adult patients....
