Write few notes about the neuronal disorders of Anosognosia ?

Anosognosia is a neuropsychiatric disorder. Patient with Anosognosia has a difficulty perceiving his own illness or disability.
Anosognosia is caused due to anatomical and physiological damage in parietal lobe or fronto-temporo-parietal lobe, thalamus and basal ganglia.
This damage disrupts the neurocognitive, secondary integration areas and somatosensory area associated with spatial and bodily representation which leads to impaired conscious awareness about judgment, emotions, memory, language and motor skills.
There is no specific treatment for Anosognosia. Vestibular stimulation maneuver helps increase awareness about neglected side. Cognitive therapy also helps improve the condition.
