The endocrine system of the human body is responsible for maintaining homeostasis because hormones secreted by this system regulate the activity of body cells either by positive feedback or negative feedback mechanism.  The release of hormones into the blood is controlled by a stimulus.If by any chance there occurs negligence on behalf of the endocrine system to look into homeostasis then there will be excessive accumulation of the hormones more than that is needed by the body leading to some abnormalities which will be depicted in the phenotype of the person or there will be acute shortage of the hormones much lesser than that needed by the body . for example malfunctioning of the thyroid gland leads to either hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.
