Smooth muscle cells contain a single nucleus and do not contain striations. There are three types of muscle cells: smooth, cardiac and skeletal. Cardiac muscle also contain single nucleus but striations are there. Skeletal muscle cells contain multiple nucleus.
Smooth muscle cells are found in the walls of the hollow organs such as stomach, intestine, uterus, urinary bladder and in the walls of passageways including arteries and veins and the tracts of respiratory, reproductive and excretory systems.
