1. What is the anatomy of the small intestines and how they influence nutrient absorption?
ANSWER :
The small intestine is one of the most important part of alimentary canal, it's majorly divided in three anatomically and physiological regions; duodenum (initial part), jejunum (middle part), and ileum (last terminal part). The duodenum of small intestine is mainly composed of glandular epithelium, and primarily involve in providing the space for food digestion via the action of enzymes from pancreas and bile from the liver.
The jejunum portion of small intestine has several intestinal digestive glands that lead to complete chemical digestion of food. The last and most important part of small intestine is called "Ileum" made up of simple columnar epithelium, which has numerous microvilli at the apical surface to increase the absorption of digested food nutrients.
