the plasma membrane has receptors for many different ligands. list 3 specific membrane receptors

1. name of receptor, ligand

2. name of receptor, ligand

3. name of receptor, ligand

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The plasma membrane is composed of phospholipids and proteins. It is a lipid bilayer and exhibits semi-permeability. It is predominantly hydrophobic in nature. Hence all polar molecules cannot cross the membrane on their own. There are several receptors on the membrane for various signaling molecules.

Plants:
GID is a receptor of Gibberellic acid.
AHK is a receptor of Cytokinins
PYL is a receptor of Abscisic acid

Animals:
Insulin receptor
VEGF receptor
Frizzled is a receptor for WNT ligand
