Using SNP genotyping you have determined that a focal individual is a double heterozygote for two loci, whereby for locus 1 it has the genotype C1T1 and for locus 2 it has the genotype A2G2. Describe an experimental design that will allow you to determine whether that focus individual is C1_A2/T1_G2 or C1_G2/T1_A2. (The corresponding question on the mini test will supply an experiment that is used and give you results but if you understand how to set up the experiment you will be prepared for that question.)

Answer #1

Assuming that both loci are linked, we can perform a dihybrid test cross to determine the relative arrangement of both genes

If the given individual is C1_A2/T1_G2, the frequency of progeny with this combination would be more i.e. this is the parental combination. The frequency of the recombinants would be low.

If the given individual is C1_G2/T1_A2, the frequency of progeny with this combination would be more i.e. this is the parental combination. The frequency of the recombinants would be low.

In this question, you have a set of ten quantitative values for each of three genotypes: aa, Aa, and AA (Table 1 below). Here, A is the risk or increaser allele. We use the genotype codes 0, 1, and 2, corresponding to the number of A alleles in an individual's genotype. GENOTYPE_CODE GENOTYPE 0 aa 1 Aa 2 AA Using each genotype code's ten quantitative values, you can compute the means and standard deviations. Given this information, what is the...

The company had five manufacturing facilities where tires were made and another 20 facilities for various components and materials used in tires. Each manufacturing facility produced 10,000 tires every hour. Quality had always been emphasized at BridgeRock, but lately quality was a bigger issue because of recent fatal accidents involving tires made by other manufacturers due to tread separation. All tire manufacturers were under pressure to ensure problems did not...
