Heart chamber involved in systemic circulation:

More thickened ventricular wall (3 times than right RV)

Round shape and larger in size LV

Moderator band is absent.

Fine trabeculations

Heart chamber involved in pulmonary circulation:

Less thickened ventricular wall

Pouch shaped and smaller in size RV

Moderator band is present.

3 Papillary muscles

Heavily trabeculated walls

These anatomical changes are due to the fact that left heart chambers pumps blood to the whole body which requires greater force of contraction. Therefore, there is anatomical adaptation to facilitate greater contractility on the left side of heart.
