Answer #1

Dystrophy ----Dys = abnormal and Trophy = growth

Dystrophin gene is the largest human gene codes for protein Dystrophin .

Dystrophin is present between sarcolemma and myofilaments and it acts as cohesive protein .

It provides strength to muscle sarcolemma .

It is required for the stabilisation of protein complex at the sarcolemma known as Dystrophin associated Protein complex.

Stabilisation of complex required for anchoring between adjacent muscles cells and extracellular matrix .

It is present in all Muscles ,retina and brain .

Its absence results in DMD ( Duchenne muscular dystrophy ) and if it is defective or decreased amount of dystrophin -- BMD ( Becker's muscular dystrophy ) .
