Humans maintain a thermoneutral zone where the heat production is equal to heat lost by body. When the body's thermoneutral zone is impaired and body temperature decreases. The body generates heat through increased metabolic rate.
The main metabolic pathway that body utilize to generate heat are aerobic and anaerobic pathway. The heat generated through aerobic pathway is greater than anaerobic pathway.
Some of the main metabolic reaction that utilizes aerobic pathway are glycolysis, Krebs cycle, gluconeogenesis, oxidative phosphorylation.
