how does the body cool down in humid areas?

Answer #1

Cooling down of body during hot weather happens by evaporative cooling. Evaporative cooling is the major mechanism in cooling process. in hot weather body tries to reduce the core temperature by increasing the sweating i.e. the cutaneous circulation of blood increases and circulation to other body part decreases in order to provide more water to be evaporated through sweat glands .This is mechanism that happen both in humid and dry air . But, in humid hot air since the moisture content of air is high the rate of evaporation of sweat is lower so body needs to sweat for more time in order to get the cooling. This leads to increased water loss because hypothalamus (thermoregulatory center) tries to get cooling by sweating process. Humid climate is dangerous than dry climate because body don’t have any separate mechanism to handle it.

scenario: you have a solid material which you want to heat up and then cool down and observe its final energy. You take two samples of this solid, one you heat to 1000K and one you heat to 5000K and then you cool them both down to the same temperature (at a proportional cooling and heating rate). Results: the one you heat up to a higher temperature and then cool down has a lower final energy. Why?
