does bile have chemicals that act as a buffer

does bile have chemicals that act as a buffer

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Bile consist of cholesterol pigments, water, electrolyte chemicals, bile acids and salts and phospholipids liquids which keep the bile more alkaline. Bile which is store in gall bladder is greenish yellowish in color and released to duodenum. Buffers are chemicals that resist changes in pH .Bile salt and acids serves to neutralize hydrochloric acid in the food which is coming from stomach to small intestine ,therefore we can state that bile have buffer property .

Imagine a patient has blockage of the common bile duct which is preventing any bile from reaching the small intestine (that is, no bile at all is reaching the small intestine). Due to the duct blockage described, you should expect all of the following EXCEPT A) normal colored stools (or feces) B) decreased micelle formation in the small intestine C) decreased surface area for lipase to act D) decreased absorption of the products of fat digestion

To prevent the presence of air, noble gases are placed over highly reactive chemicals to act as inert "blanketing" gases. A chemical engineer places a mixture of noble gases consisting of 5.78 g of He, 15.1 g of Ne, and 34.5 g of Kr in a piston-cylinder assembly at STP. Calculate the partial pressure of each gas PHe =   atm PNe =   atm PKr =   atm
