Flow of cerebrospinal fluid:
- Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is produced by the
choroid plexus and it flows from
the lateral ventricle to the
third ventricle through
interventricular foramen, also known as foramen of
Monro.
- The third and fourth ventricles are interconnected by
cerebral aqueduct. So, CSF flows through it before
flowing into the subarachnoid space.
- From there, CSF flows into the subarachnoid
space through foramen of Luschka
and foramen of Magendie.
- From there, CSF is absorbed into the blood stream at the
arachnoid granulations in the superior sagittal sinus through
arachnoid villi. The arachnoid membrane then
emerges into dural sinuses.
- From the dural sinuses, CSF flows back is filtered back into
the blood to drain from the nervous system.
This is the pathway of flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) into
the dural sinus.
