The segmental bronchi divide repeatedly to form very small bronchioles called Terminal bronchioles.

The terminal bronchioles gives smaller branches called Respiratory bronchioles.

functions -

1. This respiratory bronchioles aerate small part of lungs known as pulmonary unit.

2. This bronchioles part of conducting zone of respiratory system.

3. This bronchioles helps in gases exchange at microscopic passage. This passage consists of

a. Alveolar duct.

b.pulmonary alveoli.

4. Mainly helps in gases exchange,oxygen in to lungs and carbon dioxide leaving the lungs.
