Living things possess locotomory motion. They are able to move. Plants respond to the movement of the sun. Animals possess specialized locomotory organs.

Living things perform respiration. They possess the ability to break down food substances in order to release energy.

Living things have the ability to takes in substances from their surroundings, in order to provide them with energy and support their growth. Through nutrition, living things obtain nutrients from carbohydrates, proteins and fats.

Living things posses the ability to reproduce in order to produce their offspring.

Living things possess the ability to sense and respond to stimuli around them, such as light, temperature, water , gravity and chemicals.
